Consultations

Our friendly and experienced veterinary surgeons are always happy to see you and your pets. All our consultations are 15 minutes or longer which gives the veterinary surgeon time to get to the route of any problems and create a plan for ongoing care and treatment.

We have four purpose-built consulting rooms each kitted out with everything the vet needs for examination. Why not take a look at our online tour to have a look around.

What does a nurse weight clinic provide?

  • Assessment and follow up consultations.
  • A tailor made diet and exercise regime for your pet.

How can I tell if my pet is overweight?

  • You cannot feel their ribs without applying a fair amount of pressure.
  • There is no obvious waistline.
  • A wobbling belly when moving.
  • You are having to loosen their collar/harness.

Does my pet need to go to a weight clinic?

  • Do you feed your pet scraps/leftovers?
  • Are they are reluctant to exercise?
  • Do they tire easily with activity?
  • Do they waddle or struggle to walk freely?
  • Will they continuously eat if there is food available?
  • Have you ever been told your pet is overweight?

If you answered ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, then taking your pet to a weight clinic may be a good option.

What happens when my pet reaches their goal?

When your pet has reached their target weight, our nurses will create a long term feeding and exercise regime to help keep the weight off!

Dental Clinics

Our friendly, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN’s) run a whole range of pet health clinics. Clinics provide valuable advice and information to help prevent problems before they arise including rabbit care, senior clinics and weight clinics to name a few.

  • We will advise you whether dental treatment may be recommended.

What information will I be given?

Our nurses will advise you:

  • How to introduce your pet to tooth brushing.
  • How to clean your pet’s teeth correctly.
  • Which foods/treats can help to maintain clean and healthy teeth and gums.

I am already concerned about my pet’s teeth, what should I do?

If your pet is exhibiting symptoms of dental problems, such as:

  • Bad breath.
  • Struggling/not wanting to eat.
  • Preferring to eat wet/soft food.
  • Drooling.
  • Having trouble grooming themselves.
  • Visible signs, such as plaque, bleeding gums or pus.

you will need to make an appointment to see the vet as further treatment may be required. This will be charged at our standard consultation rate.

Senior Clinics

Our friendly, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN’s) run a whole range of pet health clinics. Clinics provide valuable advice and information to help prevent problems before they arise including rabbit care, senior clinics and weight clinics to name a few.

What is a senior clinic?

A senior clinic is a nurse clinic for dogs and cats over the age of 8 years. The nurse will look over your golden oldie and give you advice on care for older animals. For a modest fee this service also includes:

  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Basic urine sample testing

This can help the nurse pick up any problems as well as reassure you that all is well.

Adolescence Clinics

Our friendly, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN’s) run a whole range of pet health clinics. Clinics provide valuable advice and information to help prevent problems before they arise including rabbit care, senior clinics and weight clinics to name a few.

What is an adolescence clinic?

An adolescence clinic is for puppies and kittens aged less than 1 year old. This nurse clinic will provide you with advice on:

  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Neutering
  • Parasite treatments (fleas/ticks/worms)
  • Dietary needs and changes
  • Socialisation
  • Insurance
  • Dental care

and any other questions you might have about your growing pet.

Tick Removal

Our friendly, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN’s) run a whole range of pet health clinics. Clinics provide valuable advice and information to help prevent problems before they arise including rabbit care, senior clinics and weight clinics to name a few.

My pet has been given treatment for ticks, why do they still get them?

The majority of tick products require the parasite to bite the animal before they take effect. Although you may still see ticks on your dog, if your dog is appropriately treated they will not be able to spread disease and should fall off within 48hrs. It is very important to buy a veterinary licensed product to treat your animal, as many over the counter treatments prove ineffective at killing parasites. Our vets and nurses are the experts and will be able to explain our range of products and find which suits your pet’s lifestyle best.

Why should I remove ticks from my pet?

Although ticks drop off when they have fed, they can pass on nasty illnesses such as Lyme disease during the time they are attached to your pet. Removing them will reduce the risk of these diseases being passed on, but not eradicate them completely.

Can I just pull them off myself?

It is important to remove the entire tick when pulling them off an animal. If they are removed incorrectly, mouth parts can be left behind, which can subsequently become infected. If you are unsure how to remove a tick, it is better to come and have a nurse or vet remove it for you.
